Story

He travelled from Germany to Australia in 1854 on the ship ” Sophia “, with his twin HEINE cousins, landing in Melbourne, then moving to Epsom and then to Bendigo.

They were miners, and winemakers.

He was born in Widerman, Hanover, Germany, 1834, and he is buried at Bendigo cemetery, Victoria, Australia, with wife, and infant daughter.

He married Margaret BOYD, in 1870, and they built a beautiful homestead and 3 storey cellars.

He won lots of medals, etc, for his wine, both here in Australia, and overseas, at local shows as well as the world exhibitions.

(written by great great granddaughter of ” William” Carl GREIFFENHAGEN )
