Story

With my parents, Emilio Fioravanti and Giuseppina Censori, we left San Benedetto Del Tronto as assisted migrants, sponsored by my uncle Adamo Fioravanti, to start a new and better life in Sydney. The only cost to my parents was $30 for the flight on Alitalia. We arrived on the 04/09/68 to be greeted by my uncles Dante, Adamo and their families.

For the first 3 months we lived with my uncle Dante at Marrickville, and I began my education at the local public school. We started our own life renting a small 2 bedroom flat in Petersham. My father worked as a bricklayer and mum as a factory worker in Leichhardt . My education continued at Stanmore public.

In 1970, my parents bought their first 3bdr semi in Corunna Rd, Stanmore. My most treasured memories were helping my father renovating our first home while attending high school at Newtown Boys High, where I quickly learned how stressfull it was to be a wog.

Throught my life with my parents there were an abundance of tears and joys, but it helped be the man that I am now, happily married with my wife Tina and our boys Raimondo and Nicholas, of whom we are very proud, and to continue a healthy, fulfilling and respectful future in Australia.
