Story

Reason for leaving homeland – Potato famine in Ireland.

About the Journey – Son Patrick Joseph Casserly was born on the boat. Mother Cecelia (Cox) Casserly

Impressions on Arrival – Tom and his family lived in Victoria and he was buried in Footscray cemetery. He had three sons Patrick, Paul and Peter who all moved to Western Australia in the 1890s after Cecelia passed away and Tom took a second wife of whom they did not approve.

Peter’s son Peter was the last WW1 veteran to pass away aged 107 in 2005. He was married to Monica Delgado (102) for 81 years and they are buried together in Fremantle cemetery. They both lived a Christian life and were able to pass on wonderful stories right up to their passing and lived in their own home up until about one year before entering a nursing home.

Two beautiful people who loved each other dearly.
