Story

Father and Mother Hugh & Jean Hutton-Latham had waited five years to bring their three children to a place full of sunshine and a better outlook for the future. Father had a trade and he was needed at the time.

The journey on the liner Strathaird was an amazing adventure for a young girl of 11 years old,we went through the Suez Canal and those memories have stayed with me all through my life.

Arriving in Melbourne on a cold wet day was not the best and we spent a couple of months in the hostels provided. As soon as we could my family set up on our own and they made sure that we had a very good grounding of the history of this huge country that we now call home. They took us around every weekend all over Victoria and other States.

I now live in Queensland and have had two marriages, one son who is a triple Olympic athlete, one daughter deceased, and four wonderful grandsons. My husband and I have been in business for the last thirty years and we think Australia is the best country in the world.
