Story
The Frizzell family left Scotland for a hoped-for better life in Australia, with more chance of employment, and more opportunities for their children. The father, Peter Frizzell, had a job with the Victorian Railways waiting for him.
They came over by ship, and it was like being on a cruise. The children were entertained, the food was good and there was social activities for the adults. It was a great holiday.
They arrived in Melbourne during a railway strike so Peter was unable to work and they had very little money. They did have a railway house to move into but no money to furnish it. Ten month old Robert slept in a drawer. The strike went for nine weeks. Eventually the strike ended and things began to go better. Over the years many Scottish relatives came and stayed with them for long periods when they migrated to Australia.
