Story
Reson for leaving
On the 3rd November in 2006 my daughter and I left Shanghai to fly to Melbourne because I married a Malaysian Australian man. When we first arrived at the Melbourne airport, we were in a bit shock because we could only hear people speaking English, none of them were speaking Chinese. We were pretty scared and worried that we might get lost, but fortunately we got through all the gates and met my husband who gave us a big hug and showed us how glad he was to see us. On the way to our new home I saw a lot of big trees and old trees that made me feel that I was going to live in the jungle or countryside with him.
A week after I arrived I attended an English course at Box hill AMES, at that time I could only speak a few words of English I still remember that some of my classmates were very interesting, for example, one of my classmates who wanted to say ‘fat’ but she said ‘fart’ and suddenly my teacher did not understand what the girl wanted to say, my teacher asked her to say it again, she was nervous so she did not know how to say it. Seconds later, she said ‘fat ‘again and all of us were laughing at her, after that she spelled it out which was the word ‘fat’. I think that was a funny thing.
Last August, I started the LLNP course at Box Hill TAFE. I still study English part time and work part time as a cashier in a fruiterer in Box Hill Centro. Next year I\’m going to study a child care course because I like children very much and I think it can keep you young longer. I only have one daughter whom I love, she is twelve years old and her English is much better than mine. My husband is working at a university as a teacher. I have a happy family and we\’ve been living in Box Hill for two years.
