Story

Born in Capo D’Orlando Sicily, Italy 25th February, 1909

Arrived in Fremantle, Western Australia in 1922

At age 13 and eldest child, came to live with his father in Western Australia. His mother stayed in Sicily with his brother and two sisters. With his father and Uncle, they carried a swag looking for work

Although self educated, rarely went to school as other kids “made fun of him” because he couldn’t speak English. Married and divorced with two sons, Tony and Peter Wilson (Saturno) who remained in Western Australia.

During WW 2 he served with the AIF in North Africa, unbeknown to him, his brother was in the Italian Navy escorting convoys to North Africa.

He was discharged in Adelaide, bought a Taxi, met Tarquinia Griguol who lived in the West End of Adelaide – a hub of mixed European migrant concentration. Married and had two sons and a daughter.
