Story

Reason for leaving homeland – Poverty and lack of work. Having come from a large family, we struggled to earn money to eat. Palmina was one of 7 children and Oreste was one of 11 children.

About the Journey – They both came across on a ship that took 6 weeks. Palmina came across on the “Neptune” with a trunk of cotton manchester for when she would marry. Oreste came across on La Roma

Impressions on Arrival – When they arrived, they rented in Richmond in a small house with other families. They worked as factory workers and labourers. The intention was to make some money and return to their home land.

45 Years later they are still live in Australia and never looked back
