Story
Life in Italy was limited and work was scarce. He had two sisters already living in Australia and borrowed the money from his father to create a new life around his hopes and dreams.
He borrowed the money for his journey from his impoverished but extremely hardworking father. He came by plane. He came from a little mountain village Fara San Martino in Abruzzo region. It was a scary experience for him; it was a long trip and there was a lot of turbulence. What was even scarier for him, and I don’t think he has ever fully recovered from this, was that the plane crashed in India on its return journey.
From the stories my father told me and from what I heard, he loved Australia. He loved the freedom, Bandstand and most of all he loved the girls. He saw this as the land where his dreams would come true. He overcome all life’s obstacles on this premise I believe.
