Story

When boyfriend, Joel Beskin, became a Ten-Pound Pom in 1960 in order to test if he wasn’t in danger of drifting into marriage with girlfriend, Margaret Morgan. He soon found that he had to call on his letter writing skills to woo, all over again, Margaret Morgan away from her little Welsh Valley-dwelling protective six brothers.

Now engaged by long-distance persuasion with the promise of a wedding dress in the mail, Margaret (whose longest ever previous journey was nursing training in the English city of Bath) set sail on a six week voyage across the world.

Joel and Margaret, at 2009, now Australian citizens, have been married for 38 years – and have produced two further generations of native-born Australians!
