Story

Reason for leaving homeland – I came with my parents who immigrated with five children

About the Journey – It took four days by aircraft a KLM Constellation – four propelllors. We left Amsterdam, next stop Frankfurt, Rome, Beruit, Baghdad, Bombay, Calcutta, Bangkok, Manila, (North Dutch Guinea )Sydney and then Launceston. We stayed over night in Lebanon, India and the Philippines.

Impressions on Arrival – I noticed telephone lines and power lines while travelling in the back of VW combi-ute. We were surprised with all the hills and mountains and took great pleasure in climbing them. We were so pleased to live in a house that was free standing.
