James offered himself as free settler to go to New South Wales in answer to a request for voulenteer tradesmen. James Thomas John Bean was a carpenter
James Thomas John Bean Wife & five Children together with other voulenteer settlers sailed on the Buffalo. The voyage was uneventful, by all accounts.
I imagine there would have been a lot of excitment on arrival as all volunteer settlers were to receive generous land grants.
