Story

After my separation I decided to migrated to this ‘paradise’

I left Bogota, Colombia on 1.1.1986 to Paris where I lived with my sister and family until I had my interview at the Australian Consulate and was given our Residents’ visas. I had two small children, Rene 6 and Sergio 4.

I came to live with my sister who was doing her PhD at La Trobe Uni in Marine Biology. The children did not speak English and a month after being at school they were speaking it. I started work at the Hyatt on Collins as a ‘Concierge in the 4 top floors of the hotel with all the V.I.P’s and it was shift hours, I have to say at first, it was a shock for the system to take the train every morning at 4.30am to be on time for work. After 6 months I was finally getting used to this new country and counting my blessings.

My sons are now adults, with careers, working and I have remarried. We all have a wonderful life in this wonderful paradise. Thank you Australia for giving me the opportunity to start a new life with 2 small children here.
