Story
Dad says he left Italy for a family reunion with his sister, Julie and brother-in-law Vince Pisconeri and to help his father and mother, who were in poor financial circumstances.
He came out on the “Sydney”. He had a very bad trip on the boat out as he was seasick for most of it. He arrived in Melbourne. At that time here when it was winter, in May. His impression was that it was very cold here, but that he was very lucky. A friend got him a job on the railways. He worked with the Victorian Railways, throughout Victoria, repairing lines. He also worked in a cafe in Ouyen and in the Ice Works in Mildura. He went back on the railways and arrived in Benalla, where he met my Mum; Ann. They married and bought a vineyard in 1966 and worked it for forty-two years, then he retired.
During this time, he had three children; two boys and a girl, who all went to university, which made him very proud. He also has become a nationalised Australian, many years ago. He says he’s a proud Auzzie.
