Story

George was orphaned at a young age and with no living relations, decided to migrate to Australia.

He left England on the sailing ship called the Sultana and arrived in 1862 at Moreton Bay.

George thought Australia would be a great place to live and work and raise a family. He was married in 1866 to Catherine Curtis in Toowoomba and they raised a family of eight; 6 sons and 2 daughters.

George donated land and helped build a school in the Happy Valley area of Queensland and

the school was built in 1885. Catherine Bishop nee Curtis was a midwife.
