Story
The Bronzi family left Rome, Italy on a special flight chartered by Qantas for Australian immigrants on the 19th January 1971, arriving in Sydney on the 21st January 1971. The family included Enzo Bronzi (32 years), his wife Maria (29 years) and their daughters Anna (10 years), Patrizia (8 years) and Milena (4 years). We hoped to learn the English language and possibly find a simple and better life for us and our children in Australia.
Maria was 7 months pregnant at the time and on the 19th March 1971 gave birth to another daughter, Josephine at the Sydney Children’s Hospital.
Due to better housing affordability, on the 25th August 1971 the family moved from Auburn NSW to Highbury, in the beautiful South Australian foothills. A short time later they finally received the good news that Maria was pregnant with their first boy (David) who was born on the 10th November 1972 (“made and delivered in Australia”).
We quickly fell in love with the Australian way of life and the slower place of Adelaide. To us it was truly heaven on earth!
After 37 years in Australia we can say, as a family, that we are genuinely grateful to all those who have helped make our lives so wonderful, enjoying a lifestyle that embraces moral values, love and a good sense of humour.
We have visited Italy on several occasions over the years and have absolutely no regrets in migrating, as Australia is now truly our home.
