Edward Thomas Oldfield flew out to Australia during the RAF years he served, loved the climate & people & had many fond memories when he was based in QLD near the Gold Coast.

Afters some years of service & marrying Eileen Mary Miles & having their first son they boarded a ship & immigrated to Australia with their baby son, with only tin carnation milk on board and a sick baby it was a long 3 month journey.

The harbour was a beautiful sight to see and relief on arrival, they stayed in a Hostel in Burwood with many other immigrants from the UK to start a better new Life in Australia.

Edward and Eileen purchased a piece of land in Canley Heights & built their own home near Orphan School Creek. All the new immigrant property owners helped each other build their houses with plumbing, building, electrical skills.

Edward has moved from there since but the house he built still stands to this day.

They had 4 children, The family has grown now to 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren.
