Story

Reason for leaving homeland – To seek a better way of life. I came with my twin brother and younger sister.

About the Journey – We all came over on the SS Canberra on A deck. Dad knew someone who worked for P&O!!It took 6 weeks. My brother and I celebrated our 7th birthday aboard ship. We crossed the Equator and I was thrown in the pool and promised a bob if I could swim to the other side. It was such an adventure being on a ship especially as there was free ice cream everyday.

Impressions on Arrival – We arrived on a Beautiful Summers day in December 1964. My first impression of Sydney was love at First sight. I was very impressed and I knew that Australia was where I wanted to be. Sydney never ceases to impress me all these years later.
