Story
I met my partner over the internet and migrated to Australia to be together with her. I was 19 and a native of Southern California.
It’s a looooong plane ride from Los Angeles to Sydney! At about the 8 hour mark you start thinking “Ok, I’d like to get off of the plane now.” I lived with my partner in Sydney for 6 years and then moved to Townsville in 2004. We broke up in 2007 but I’ve met my best friends in Townsville and with them looking on, I obtained my citizenship in 2008.
Sydney, is indeed, the crown jewel city of Australia. I’ve learned that Aussies are fiercely proud of being Australians. I didn’t realise that Americans didn’t have a monopoly on being proud of their country. Australians have much to be proud of and I’m proud to be one of them.
