Story
My reason for leaving? Was not really leaving in that sense. I wanted to “do something else” for a change, travel and enjoy Australia’s space and relaxed way of life. Arrived in Cairns in the hot tropics to embark on my 6 month “leave of absence”.
I had been to Cairns before but this time I would be going back to school to study and to get involved in everyday life. As part of my studies, started doing work experience on one the many Reef Operating Boats.
Met a guy on the boat, a passenger, who became a work collegue. Just for fun we “started a few rumours”. Told the crew we were dating, when we were not!!! Well the whole thing backfired and we, believe it or not, have been married for almost 10 years.
We’ve just moved to Tasmania and that’s where we’ll stay. Whenever we’re in Holland to see my family, it’s me who wants to “go home”after 2 weeks. Holland is where I was born, but I still call Australia Home, and am a very proud Australian.
