Story

Life in post war Italy was very hard. I was young and had a young family to support – my wife Anna and our four young children – Elena, Angelo, Giacomo and Mario. I wanted them to be educated and have a good future. I heard that Australia was a rich country and that they were looking for workers.

I decided to migrate and came to Canberra with my brothers in 1955. I worked hard and brought my wife and children to Australia three years later. We had another child, Teresa, in 1959.

Now we have 13 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and have been married for 67 years!

Australia is still a good country for the young people and for families who are willing to work hard. They still have a good future. My family certainly found one.
