Story
Anton Bibo was born in Nassau, Germany, probably in 1825 but possibly in 1828. His father was Jacob Bibo and his mother not listed.
He arrived in Australia at Melbourne on the Great Britain in May 1873, when he gave his age as 45 (born 1828). He was accompanied by his wife, Rosina Trenek, and three children.
Anton was naturalised on 3 January 1876, living then in Grafton, and employed as a farmer. He gave his age at the time as 39 years old. He was granted a wine licence in Casino Road, Lismore, near Tunstall, on 28 August 1885, and was later to be described as a farmer and wine grower.
Rates notices show he owned a house in Casino Road in 1887, which subsequently passed to John William by 1908-10.
He died of old age on 5 September 1913, and is buried in the Barham Street cemetery in Lismore. His age at death is recorded as 88 years, giving him a birth year of 1825.
