Story

Reason for leaving homeland – The death of our mother at the tender age of 43, meant that both my brother and I were left under the care of an elderly grandmother. My mother’s sisters, Palma and Giuseppina had migrated to Australia earlier and it was their wish to bring us over. Aunty Giuseppina actually returned to Italy to expedite our trip to Australia.

About the Journey – The ocean liner, called Marconi, was grandiose. it took 23 days to make the journey.

Impressions on Arrival – A vast land, devoid of culture and compassion.
