My Great Grandfather- Alfred Cornelius Fathers
Son of John & Sarah Jane (Nee Williams).
Born- 11-11-1835 Henstridge Somerset UK.
Died Ð 12-10-1918 Auburn New South Wales Australia.
Worked Ð HS Agricultural Laborer UK (still at school till 13 years of aged).
Left U.K. – From Plymouth, 21-11-1876, on ‘Kapunda’
Arrived Australia- Sydney, on 8-2-1877, travelled with wife Mary Ann & 8 children. (Born in the UK.)
Married .UK. – On 24-11-1861 Charlton Hawthorne Somerset.(At aged 24 years) Mary Ann Ryall,- born 1845 Corton Denham Somerset, England.- died 3-4-1882 at Chatswood, New South Wales Australia. Daughter of Enoch & Sophie Ryall (Nee Lamb). Mary Ann worked as a domestic, boarding in the house of A.C. Fathers in England, where they met, and she married at the age of 16 years.
Child number 9 arrived on 11-2-1879 – born in St. Leonard\’s New South Wales Australia.
2 other children of the 8 born in England, travelled on the ship as adults. George & Sarah, he 15 years old, she 13 years old. (Sarah had worked as a nurse in England).

W.J. Fathers was manager for independents. (or Congregation Lists), at Rookwood Cemetery.

Sarah Ann – 1864 England – died 1905 Burwood NSW, married Alexander Malcolm Smith, (lived 1882 Lane Cove Sydney then Granville, Sydney. They had 9 children).
