Story
I heard about Australia many times from friends and media. It\’s a special continent with red soil, unique terrain, gum trees and koalas. My wife (Baohua Yu) and I decided to migrate to Australia for a new life style with fresh air, green grass, and blue sky. We also hoped our only child (Yuxuan Liu) can get a better education. Thanks to the Immigration Law, it wasn\’t difficult for us who hold bachelor degrees to get a Permanent Resident visa.
The journey was exciting. It took us about 15 hours flying from Shanghai to Melbourne. We were excited about starting a new life and a bit sad about leaving my hometown and parents.
It was winter when we landed at Melbourne. The weather was not so cold and wet. I couldn\’t believe there were so many showers in this dry land. I found the speed of the cars was very fast and there were only a few pedestrians, which was totally different from my hometown. We had to speak English outside, but we would keep speaking our mother language at home.
