Story

I had made the decision to immigrate, because of my younger sister Helen who migrated to Melbourne, Australia in 1978. Her husband had a family restaurant in Ferntree Gully, Melbourne.

In December 1978, she invited the whole family to Melbourne to attend her wedding. I came to Melbourne with my parents and my elder sister Susan, and we had a great time on this visit. Compared to my home town, Hong Kong, Melbourne was completely different. When I went back to Hong Kong, I was so busy at work, and I started to apply for immigration to Australia. It took two years.

In September 1980, I migrated to Melbourne to stay with my sister. The journey was so wonderful, I will never forget, especially the first impression on my arrival, it was great. I noticed that the people and the culture were very different from ours. I was amazed at the historic buildings and the bridges. The parks are very big compared to Hong Kong and there was much more space.

I like Australia very much and I am so happy to be living here.
