Story

Young & looking for a better life

I paid 199.00 pounds for my fare, flew out from Gatwick Airport on British Caledonia to Singapore then by Ship called the Eastern Queen to Fremantle then Perth to Melbourne by air. I was very nervous but excited at the same time.

Arrived with about $30.00 as I had to spend most of my money to the ship’s Doctor after getting sunburnt.

I felt proud and excited that I had finally reached Australia and walked down the gangplank in Fremantle and remembered that I could not stop smiling as I went through Customs and Immigration especially went they stamped my passport. However I was very scared to be so far from home and family.

The new life and journey had started and what a journey it has been with no regrets. I just knew Australia was for me.
