Story

Reason for leaving homeland – family of then girlfriend was emigrating, and I decided to go with them.

About the Journey – a long but enjoyable trip by ship , the ”Johan van Oldenbarnevelt”, on which was also the 100,000th Dutch migrant since the 2nd World War.

Impressions on Arrival – We stopped at Fremantle on way to Melbourne and were overwhelmed to see so many palm trees. We arrived in Melbourne on Melbourne Cup Day and were transferred to BONEGILLA.
