Story

I was married to an Australian born citizen. I was not able to leave for Australia right away since I had to finish my year’s work as a high school teacher, and then had to prepare my passport and wait for my visa approval.

I was six months pregnant with my second son Andrew when I and my first child, Wilbert, went aboard the Philippines Airlines for an eight hour flight to Australia. Wilbert was a very curious baby and did not want to sleep. He kept looking around and the Australian lady who was seated next to me was amused by his curiousity. By the time we arrived at Sydney airport I was very tired and sleepy after the eight hour sleepless journey. My husband met us at the airport and when we arrived

home I had a good sleep at last.

While my husband was driving us from the airport , I wondered why everything was very quiet and not

so many people were seen on the streets. So I asked my husband whether we were in Sydney already and he said “Yes”. So I asked why everything was very quiet and he laughed. It was because

I left Manila city with a population at that time of around ten million and landed in the city of Sydney with a population of around two million.
