Story

Left UK for a new life in Australia. Family that had already moved to Australia told stories of this wonderful country full of opportunity with a lifestyle that seemed to good to be true.

The journey was only a day by plane but it meant leaving most of what we owned behind in England and starting again in Perth with my Mother Shirley, Father Manuel and Brother David.

The thing I noticed first was the width of the road leaving the airport, it seemed so wide. As we drove to our cousins’ home in the northern most suburb of Kallaroo there was so much space everywhere, it felt like home from the moment I arrived. It was disappointing to find that we couldn’t actually ride kangaroos to school as my cousins had boasted.

Waking after just a few hours sleep and walking to the golden sandy beaches, with not a cloud in the sky couldn’t have been a more perfect first day.
