Story

Australia was seeking tradesmen to migrate to Australia with the prospect of a better life, I came to Australia to help build up the Nation after World War II. My trade is Carpentry and Patternmaker.

The journey was with the ship Fairsea, we left Trieste in July 1955, arriving at Fremantle, then on to Sydney to Camp Greta near Newcastle. After 3 weeks I was placed in employment in Canberra to help build up the National Capital.

On arrival I was astounded with what I saw. In my first years of work everything seemed to fall into place. I had a good job and I earned good money, I thought I was great, but over the last 53 years things have changed a lot with different Parliaments and Prime Ministers I have become disillusioned of whom I can trust to keep this Nation going. It is time to change to a Parliament which is able to cope with the changing growth of the world. Especially Australia.
