Story

Edmond was born in Cornwall, England and probably followed his father into the mines. He married Honor Williams there when he was 25 and she was 18. They had seven children, all of whom except one daughter died in childbirth or very young.

They emigrated to Victoria probably as part of the goldrush. They lived at Ballarat where they had two more childen, and then Creswick (another two), then Clunes where Edmond worked in the mine (and another five, making 16 children). They then moved to Stawell where Edmond continued to work as a miner. But in his last 7 years he suffered from diseases of the lung probably caused by the coal dust, and he died in 1870 aged 59.
