Story

Re Gerard H. Verhoeven, name reservation IBA01HR of 3/8/2006

I arrived in Australia on the MV ‘Tahitien’ on 13 November 1953, aged 28. Born in Rotterdam and growing up in Indonesia, I came via the (then) Dutch colony of Curaao to Sydney. I worked on the NSW Government Railways and married my wonderful Australian girl from Chinchilla Qld, Joyce Fraser. We lived in various places in country NSW before I joined the Postmaster-General\’s department, moving to several places in North Queensland. On retirement we moved to the ACT where our daughters (2) were living. Joyce passed away on 1 September 1999.
